JAH9 - REGGAE INNOVATION & SOUND SYSTEM CULTURE (4-5/04/18) !

Birmingham City University et l'University of West Indies vous invitent à une conférence internationale sur la culture reggae et l'innovation en matière de son !

La conférence, qui réunit des chercheurs et des professionnels de premier plan, sera organisée au Conservatoire Royal de Birmingham de la BCU, avec ses salles de concert et ses salles de conférence de premier ordre. Les événements ce tiendrons le 4 et le 5 avril 2018.

Collectivement, ces événements de la BCU marquent la première étape d'une série d'activités de recherche et d'engagement externe co-produites qui porteront sur la diversité musicale, l'innovation culturelle et la visualisation. Comme cette conférence, les événements à venir mettront l'accent sur l'innovation musicale et le patrimoine à travers une série d'ateliers et de séances plénières sur la culture visuelle, la technologie et les nouvelles collaborations.

Les présentations porteront sur :

* L'innovation pour le patrimoine au-delà de la dancehall

* Musiciens reggae et études de cas d'innovation

* Reggae, musique et genre

* Le reggae et l'industrie de la musique; nouvelles formes, nouveau marketing, nouveaux publics

* Sonicités jamaïcaines et diasporiques

* La nouvelle musique de Reggae, les nouveaux médias et les nouvelles technologies

° Explorer les espaces et les lieux intérieurs et extérieurs du reggae

° Reggae dans et hors des études de musique populaire

° Créativité: de la théorie à la pratique; méthodes et processus

° Reggae en transition: réinventer le reggae - reconfigurations, collaborations et crossovers

Birmingham City University and The University of West Indies invite you to a forthcoming international conference on reggae culture and sound system innovation.

The conference, which brings together leading researchers and professionals, will be hosted in The Royal Birmingham Conservatoire at BCU, with its world-leading concert venues and conference facilities. 

Collectively, these BCU events mark the first stage of a series of co-produced research and external engagement activities which will investigate music diversity, cultural innovation and visualisation. Like this conference, forthcoming events will place the spotlight on music-innovation and heritage through a series of workshops and plenary sessions on visual culture, technology and new collaborations.

Presentations will address:

Innovation through heritage, from mento to dancehall
Innovation for heritage beyond dancehall
Reggae musicians and innovation case studies
Reggae, music and gender
Reggae and the music industry; new forms, new marketing, new audiences
Jamaican and diasporic sonicities

This ticket category is for the full academic conference including Jah9 in conversation. This ticket category will allow you access to all sessions in the conference, the Reggae Gala with Caribbean buffet and featuring Sound System set by Rusty Rebel and Junior Quaker, and Evening Sound System & Lounge Event, in addition to lunch and teas and coffee throughout the day.

Student Delegate – £25

This ticket category will allow students studying at doctoral level access to the full academic conference. This ticket will allow you access to all sessions in the conference, the Reggae Gala featuring Sound System set by Rusty Rebel and Junior Quaker, and Evening Sound System & Lounge Event, in addition to lunch and teas and coffee throughout the day.

Reggae Innovation Conference General Public Admission – Free

We welcome members of the public and students interested in reggae innovation to attend any of the sessions that run throughout the day. This ticket category will provide you with access to sessions in the conference which interest you most. However, we cannot offer you lunch. You are invited to buy a ticket for the Reggae Gala featuring Sound System set by Rusty Rebel and Junior Quaker, or Evening Sound System & Lounge Event. You will need to book for these additional sessions below.

This ticket category provides entry into the Reggae Gala featuring Sound System set by Rusty Rebel and Junior Quaker and a three-course Jamaican-style buffet. This also includes an Evening Sound System & Lounge Event with WASSIFA, Jah9 and guests.

Students – £15

This ticket category provides entry into the Reggae Gala featuring Sound System set by Rusty Rebel and Junior Quakerand a three-course Jamaican-style buffet, in addition to entrance into the Evening Sound System & Lounge Event for students at BCU and beyond. If you have booked this ticket you will have to provide your student ID to gain entry.

Starter: Chicken or pumpkin soup with bread.

Mains: Jerk chicken, Curried chicken or vegetarian option. Pasta salad & potato salad, rice and peas, fried dumpling, and roti.

Dessert: Madeira cake and fruit salad.
